The Rawalpindi District Education Authority has directed all education offices and government schools across the district to install CCTV cameras and biometric attendance systems on an urgent basis. The orders were issued through final instructions aimed at strengthening monitoring, security, and attendance management in educational institutions.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani, where officials declared the installation of surveillance cameras and biometric systems an immediate priority. Authorities were instructed to ensure the new measures are implemented without delay.
Following the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Education Authority issued formal directives to district education officers responsible for secondary and elementary schools, including both male and female wings. They have been instructed to oversee the implementation process and ensure that every institution complies with the new requirements.
Education officers and heads of institutions have been given three days to submit compliance reports confirming that the required systems have been installed. Officials warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against anyone who fails to meet the deadline or ignores the instructions.
In addition, principals and heads of all boys’ and girls’ government schools have been separately directed to complete the installation of CCTV cameras and biometric attendance devices within 24 hours and immediately submit completion reports to the relevant authorities.
Officials said the introduction of biometric attendance and CCTV surveillance is intended to improve accountability, strengthen security, and ensure better monitoring across government schools. They believe these technologies have become essential for maintaining transparency and improving administrative efficiency in the education sector.
The initiative has received support from the Punjab School Education Pensioners Association, which welcomed the government’s decision to expand CCTV surveillance across educational institutions. Association representatives said the move would help create safer learning environments while ensuring accurate attendance records for staff and students.
The district administration expects the new monitoring systems to enhance discipline, improve operational oversight, and strengthen security standards in government schools throughout Rawalpindi. Authorities have emphasized that timely implementation is mandatory and that compliance will be closely monitored in the coming days.
