The Punjab Special Education Department has announced 74 School Teaching Intern (STI) vacancies in special education institutions across Rawalpindi Division. The positions are available in Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Talagang.
The recruitment is being conducted under the School Teaching Interns policy of the Punjab government’s Special Education Department. Fresh candidates with the required qualifications are encouraged to apply, while preference may be given to candidates with relevant teaching experience.
District-Wise Vacancies
Attock has the highest number of vacancies with 32 positions. Jhelum has 10 vacancies, Chakwal and Talagang have 24, while Murree has eight positions.
The vacancies include Junior Special Education Teachers in BS-16, Senior Special Education Teachers in BS-17 and one Speech Therapist position in BS-17. Posts are available for different areas of special education, including hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical disability and mentally challenged students.
In Attock, vacancies are available at special education institutions in Attock, Jand, Fateh Jang, Hazro, Hassanabdal and Pindi Gheb. The district has 32 positions in total.
Jhelum has 10 vacancies spread across institutions in Jhelum, Dina, Pind Dadan Khan and Sohawa. Chakwal and Talagang have 24 positions, while eight vacancies are available in Murree and Kotli Sattian.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates applying for Junior Special Education Teacher positions generally require an MA or BS in Special Education with at least a second division or Grade-C, along with the relevant specialisation.
Senior Special Education Teacher applicants generally require an MA, M.Ed or BS in Special Education with a first division or Grade-B. The degree must have the relevant specialisation for the position.
Candidates applying for Visual Impairment positions must also possess a certificate of proficiency in Braille issued by the Directorate General of Special Education, Punjab.
For the Speech Therapist position, applicants must have an MA or BS in Special Education or an equivalent qualification along with a one-year postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy. Candidates with a relevant BSc (Hons) degree in Speech and Language Therapy or Pathology can also apply.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The general age limit for all advertised positions is 21 to 28 years. Male candidates can receive up to five years of age relaxation, while female candidates can receive up to eight years.
Disabled candidates may receive up to 15 years of age relaxation, subject to the submission of a valid disability certificate.
Job Duration
The STI positions are temporary, school-specific and non-transferable. The engagement will be for nine months, excluding summer vacations, or until regular staff members join, whichever comes earlier.
Candidates selected against BS-16 positions will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs40,000. Those selected against BS-17 positions will receive Rs45,000 per month.
The internship will not create any right to regular appointment. The department will also monitor attendance and performance during the engagement.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must submit their applications to the concerned special education institution by hand or courier. The deadline for applications is October 27, 2026.
Applicants must provide an updated CV, CNIC, domicile, academic certificates or degrees, experience certificates if available, and two passport-size photographs. Candidates must bring their original documents at the time of the interview.
Incomplete or late applications will not be entertained. The department has also reserved the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies or cancel the recruitment process.
Interview Schedule
The interviews will begin on November 2, 2026. Murree candidates will appear at the Government Special Education Centre Murree on November 2 at 10:00 AM.
Attock candidates will be interviewed on November 3 at the Government Deaf and Defective Hearing School, People Colony, Attock. Jhelum candidates will appear on November 4 at the Government Deaf and Defective Hearing School, Bilal Town, Jhelum.
Candidates from Chakwal and Talagang will appear on November 5 at the Government Deaf and Defective Hearing School, Tatral Road, Chakwal. All interviews will begin at 10:00 AM.
