Punjab Government Introduces Strict New Rules for Private Schools Registration

The Punjab government has introduced major reforms in the private school registration and renewal system. The new policy focuses on transparency, digital monitoring, and stronger regulation of private education institutions.

Under the revised framework, the Private School Regulatory Authority Punjab has been directed to strengthen oversight. The Punjab government has also ordered that all registration and renewal processes must be completed through a centralized online portal.

Officials said the move is designed to reduce irregularities in school management. It also aims to improve accountability across the private education sector.

The Punjab government has made it mandatory for private schools to disclose their full fee structures. Schools must also reserve at least 10 percent of seats for underprivileged students. This step is intended to promote equal access to education.

New safety rules have also been introduced under the policy. Schools located on main roads must install zebra crossings and clear traffic signage. These measures aim to improve student safety during daily commutes.

In addition, all institutions must install CCTV cameras on their premises. Schools are also required to follow anti-dengue SOPs and maintain proper sanitation standards. These requirements aim to improve health and safety conditions.

The Punjab government has also made digital registration compulsory. Schools must register on both the Punjab Safety App and the Green School App. This will help authorities monitor compliance more efficiently.

Building fitness certificates and hygiene approvals have now been made essential for registration and renewal. Schools will not be approved without these documents.

Franchise-based schools face additional requirements. They must obtain a no-objection certificate from their head office before applying for registration. This ensures proper administrative coordination.

Transport facilities have also been made mandatory for many schools. Institutions will be required to provide transport for at least 50 percent of students. Officials said this step will improve accessibility for families.
