To combat environmental pollution in Punjab, the provincial government, in partnership with a private company, has unveiled an electric rickshaw. The introduction of the electric rickshaw followed a crucial meeting led by Secretary Transport Ahmed Javaid Qazi at the transport secretariat. After a thorough examination by experts, the electric rickshaw was successfully launched. Ahmed Javaid Qazi expressed optimism that the introduction of these rickshaws would substantially contribute to reducing environmental pollution.

Officials asserted that the electric rickshaws have the capability to travel up to 150 kilometers on a single charge. However, details regarding its price and availability have not been disclosed at this time.

Notably, recent amendments to the Motor Vehicles Rules 1969 by the caretaker government have granted legal recognition to the Qingqi rickshaw. This recognition allows the Qingqi rickshaw to be officially registered as a three-wheeler.
