Punjab Anticipates Rainfall Following An Extended Dry Winter

Pakistan’s largest region, Punjab, has recently endured an extended dry spell during the harsh winter, resulting in various health concerns for the residents. However, there is now a sense of relief as the Meteorological Office predicts upcoming rains in different parts of the province.

The forecast indicates that areas such as Murree, D.G Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Rawalpindi, and various regions of Gujranwala will experience showers. Additionally, the country’s capital, Islamabad, is expected to receive rainfall, while hilly areas are anticipated to witness snowfall.

As the weather takes a turn, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a cautionary advisory, urging people to take necessary precautions when traveling during the rainy spell.

Presently, most parts of the country are experiencing the influence of continental air, while a shallow westerly wave is projected to impact the upper regions of Pakistan.

In contrast, Lahore, the provincial capital, has faced an intense dry winter marked by cold winds. Despite the dry conditions, there has been a reduction in smog, providing some respite for residents. The city and its surrounding areas endured a severe dry winter, accompanied by the prevalence of fog that shrouded the plains.

In the preceding days, thick fog disrupted both air and road travel, causing challenges for citizens and contributing to respiratory infections. The onset of rains is expected to bring relief from the prolonged dry spell and alleviate the adverse health effects associated with the harsh winter conditions.
