January Concludes With Forecasted Rain, Snow After Dry Spell

The Meteorological Office has conveyed that following an extended period of dry weather, a westerly wave is anticipated to enter the western regions of the country on January 27 and may persist over the upper parts until January 31.

Under the influence of this weather system, the forecast for different regions is as follows:

Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir:
Light to moderate rain, accompanied by snowfall over the hills, is expected in various areas including Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) and Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from the night of January 27 to January 31.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Manshera, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Bunner, Karak, Peshawar, Charsada, Nowshera, Swabi, Buner, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, and Kohat are expected to experience light to moderate rain, with snowfall over the hills, from the night of January 27 to January 31, with occasional gaps.

Punjab/Islamabad:
Light to moderate rain is anticipated in Islamabad and the Pothohar region from the night of January 27 to January 31. Additionally, Murree and Galliyat are expected to witness light to moderate rain, with snowfall over the hills, during the specified period and occasional gaps. In Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, and Sargodha, rain is forecasted on January 30 and 31. Cold, dry, and foggy conditions are expected during night and morning hours in other parts of the province.

Balochistan:
Light to moderate rain, along with snowfall over the hills, is predicted in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chamman, Barkhan, and the Makran coast (with occasional gaps) on January 28 and 29.

Sindh:
Cold and dry weather is anticipated in most parts of the province, with shallow to moderate foggy conditions in upper Sindh.
