PTI Reverses Stance On Talks With Military After DG ISPR’s Press Briefing

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif categorically rejected the prospect of any negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), dismissing the idea of holding talks with individuals deemed as disruptors. Now, PTI, in a surprising move, has shifted its stance on dialogue with the military establishment.

Various PTI leaders, as reported by the media, expressed their desire for discussions with the Army Chief and the head of the ISI instead of engaging with members of the current government.

Following the scathing press conference by the Army spokesperson, PTI appears to have altered its position on engaging in talks with the establishment. PTI leader Asad Qaiser articulated that the party is committed to upholding constitutional and legal supremacy, asserting its reluctance to engage in dialogue with any entity.

Qaiser highlighted that both Imran Khan and senior party figures advocate for the adherence to constitutional boundaries by all institutions.

Expressing skepticism about the formation of a committee for dialogue with the establishment, Qaiser revealed that the matter was not deliberated upon during the meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan. He clarified that while PTI aims to address the concerns of all those questioning the recent elections, it will refrain from engaging with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

In relation to the elections, Qaiser stressed that PTI also supports the establishment of a judicial commission to probe into the matter.
