Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued strict instructions for the upcoming MDCAT 2026 examination, which is scheduled to take place on September 20. The council has directed universities and provincial authorities to ensure that the medical and dental entrance test is conducted in a fair, secure and transparent manner.
According to PMDC, a total of 138,158 candidates have registered for MDCAT 2026. The examination will be conducted across 35 cities and towns in Pakistan. An examination centre will also be established in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, allowing Pakistani candidates there to appear in the test.
The large number of registered candidates has increased the need for strong arrangements at examination centres. PMDC has directed all relevant authorities to make sure that candidates receive a safe and properly managed environment throughout the examination process.
PMDC President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj issued the instructions during a meeting with university vice chancellors and representatives from the provinces. He stressed that the integrity and confidentiality of MDCAT must be protected at every stage.
Authorities have been instructed to introduce strict security measures to prevent cheating, irregularities and other problems. Examination material must remain secure before, during and after the test. Universities and provincial authorities will be responsible for on-ground arrangements and will have to ensure that examination centres follow the required procedures.
PMDC has also directed authorities to provide proper seating arrangements for candidates. Security personnel must be available at the centres, while medical assistance and emergency services should remain accessible during the examination.
Special arrangements will also be made for candidates and their parents or guardians. These measures are intended to reduce difficulties on examination day and ensure that the large number of students can appear in the test in an organized environment.
The latest instructions come amid concerns over controversies surrounding previous entrance examinations. Questions have previously been raised over allegations of paper leaks and administrative irregularities. Such issues have increased pressure on authorities to strengthen the examination system and maintain public confidence.
PMDC’s latest measures are aimed at preventing similar concerns during MDCAT 2026. The council wants all participating authorities to follow strict procedures and ensure equal treatment for candidates.
Meanwhile, officials from Azad Jammu and Kashmir have highlighted registration difficulties faced by some students. The problems were reportedly linked to a prolonged internet shutdown in the region, which made it difficult for some candidates to complete their registration process.
PMDC has assured AJK officials that possible assistance will be considered for students affected by the registration difficulties. The matter is expected to receive attention as the examination date approaches.
With September 20 nearing, universities and provincial authorities are now finalizing arrangements at examination centres. PMDC has emphasized that all responsible bodies must follow the required security and administrative procedures.
The council’s main focus is to ensure that MDCAT 2026 is conducted fairly and transparently. With more than 138,000 candidates registered, effective security, proper facilities and strict monitoring will be important for maintaining the credibility of the examination.
