Lahore is expected to receive another spell of monsoon rain on Saturday as a strengthening weather system continues to enhance monsoon currents across eastern and central Pakistan, increasing the chances of widespread rainfall.
According to the latest weather forecast, the city will remain humid, with humidity levels ranging between 75 and 78 percent. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 33°C, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain between 32°C and 34°C on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to ease slightly to 31°C to 33°C on Sunday and Monday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Lahore, with isolated heavy rainfall possible in some parts of the city. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.
The current weather pattern is being driven by a depression over southern Madhya Pradesh in India, which is expected to move west-northwest over the next 24 hours. The system is continuously feeding moist monsoon currents into eastern and central Pakistan, creating favourable conditions for widespread rain.
Besides Lahore, rain with thunderstorms and isolated heavy falls is expected in several districts of Punjab, including Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, Multan, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, and Nankana Sahib.
Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are also forecast for Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum, while authorities continue to monitor the evolving weather system.
The weather department has warned that heavy rainfall could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of Lahore and several other cities, including Sheikhupura, Kasur, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Nowshera. Landslides are also possible in vulnerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, and Kashmir, while flash floods may occur in local streams and hill torrents during the forecast period.
