The Prime Minister’s Youth Program is preparing to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks to students across Pakistan. The initiative aims to improve access to digital education and technology-based learning.
According to the program, the scheme will help students access online classes, research tools, and digital learning resources. It is also part of the government’s broader Digital Pakistan vision.
The initiative focuses on expanding technology access within the education sector. Chromebooks are lightweight laptops that run on Google’s ChromeOS operating system.
These devices mainly support web-based applications and educational activities. Students can use them for assignments, document preparation, online classes, and academic research.
Students interested in the scheme can check their eligibility through the official Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme portal. The portal is managed by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC).
Who Is Eligible for the Chromebook Scheme?
Eligibility depends on the student’s education board and academic performance. Under the currently published criteria, selected students from government and public schools can be considered.
In Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, top-performing Grade 9 students are eligible for consideration. These students must be enrolled in public-sector schools.
In Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, the criteria also include top-performing Grade 10 students. Eligible students from both Grade 9 and Grade 10 may be considered in these regions.
Students enrolled in private schools are not included in the eligibility criteria currently published on the official portal. Applicants should check the portal for the latest requirements before proceeding.
How to Apply for the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme
Eligible students can access the online application system through the official website:
Applicants should select their relevant education board and provide the required identification details. The portal allows students to search for their records using a CNIC or B-Form number, roll number, or registration number.
Students must also enter their date of birth as recorded in their official documents. They should ensure that all information matches their education board records.
After entering the details, applicants can click the “Find My Record” option. The system will search for a matching student record using the information provided.
If the record appears, students should review their name, school, examination details, and available marks. They can then continue with the remaining application requirements.
If the portal cannot locate a record, applicants can try another identification method. Students who still face problems should contact their respective education boards for assistance.
Documents Required for the Application
Students whose records appear on the portal must prepare the required supporting documents. These include:
- A recent colour photograph
- The relevant SSC-I or SSC-II marks sheet
- An attested copy of the student’s CNIC or B-Form
- An attested copy of the father’s or guardian’s CNIC
The photograph must be uploaded in JPG or PNG format. Other documents can be submitted in JPG, PNG, or PDF format.
Each file must meet the portal’s stated size limit of 300 KB. Applicants should ensure all uploaded documents remain clear and readable.
Important Instructions for Applicants
Students should carefully check their information before submitting the application. The portal does not allow applicants to edit their details directly after final submission.
Each student is permitted to submit only one application. Applicants should therefore confirm that their personal information and supporting documents are accurate.
After successful submission, the system generates a reference number and application slip. Students should download and keep these for future reference.
Application Deadline and Record Verification
The official portal does not currently show one nationwide application deadline for every education board. Students should check announcements from their respective boards for schedules and any deadline extensions.
A missing record does not necessarily mean an applicant is ineligible. The portal depends on information supplied by education boards, so students should contact their board if their details remain unavailable.
