The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed judges and court staff in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to adopt additional security measures amid concerns over the prevailing law and order situation in the province.
The directive was issued through the Peshawar High Court Registrar’s Office to district and sessions judges. It includes measures aimed at strengthening the protection of judges, district judges and their staff.
Under the new instructions, the movement of judges is to be closely monitored in coordination with the Regional Police Officer (RPO).
District and sessions judges have also been instructed to take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of judges and court personnel.
Judges’ Movements to Be Monitored
The PHC has directed authorities to closely monitor the movements of judges in coordination with the relevant regional police authorities.
The measure is intended to strengthen security arrangements for judges travelling to and from court-related locations.
District and sessions judges have been asked to ensure that the prescribed precautions are followed and that appropriate security arrangements remain in place.
The directive comes amid concerns regarding the law and order situation across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Green Number Plates Prohibited
As part of the security measures, the Peshawar High Court has also issued instructions prohibiting the use of green number plates on vehicles in connection with the arrangements for protecting judges and court personnel.
The directive forms part of a broader set of precautions being implemented by the court administration.
Relevant officials have been instructed to ensure compliance with the security-related directions issued by the Registrar’s Office.
Staggered Office Timings Ordered
The PHC has also directed offices to adopt staggered arrival and departure times for judges and staff.
The arrangement is intended to prevent judges and court employees from travelling or leaving offices simultaneously.
By staggering arrival and departure schedules, the court administration aims to reduce the concentration of movement around court-related offices and strengthen overall security arrangements.

The Registrar’s Office has directed district and sessions judges to ensure that all prescribed precautionary measures are implemented.
The instructions apply to security arrangements involving judges and their staff and include coordination with police authorities where required.
