The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported that 14 people have lost their lives and 19 others have been injured in rain-related incidents and flash floods across the province since July 19.
According to the latest PDMA update, the victims include six men, six children, and two women. The authority said the fatalities were caused by heavy rainfall and flash floods that affected several districts of the province.
The PDMA also reported that 19 people sustained injuries, including 11 men, four women, and four children. Rescue teams and local authorities have been responding to weather-related emergencies in the affected areas.
The severe weather also caused damage to residential properties. According to the authority, 28 houses were affected during the recent spell of rain and flooding. Of these, 22 houses were partially damaged, while six houses were completely destroyed.
The districts affected by the heavy rainfall and flash floods include Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Chitral, Lower Dir, and Upper Dir.
The PDMA said rescue and relief agencies are actively engaged in relief operations across the affected areas. Officials are working to assist affected families and assess the extent of the damage caused by the ongoing monsoon spell.
According to the authority, water levels in all major rivers, streams, and drains across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain within normal limits despite the recent rainfall. However, officials continue to monitor the situation closely as more rain is expected.
The PDMA has forecast that the current spell of rain is likely to continue, with intermittent showers expected across the province until July 23. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas, and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
The authority urged the public to stay informed through official weather updates and cooperate with emergency services to minimize the risk of further loss of life and property during the ongoing monsoon season.
