Pakistan’s Petroleum Exports Reach Record $939 Million

Pakistan’s petroleum exports reached a record $939 million during fiscal year 2025-26. The figure marks the highest export value recorded in recent years.

According to industry data, petroleum exports increased by 3.9 percent from $903 million in FY25. The growth came despite changes in domestic fuel demand and market conditions.

Pakistan’s Petroleum exports have shown strong growth over the past three years. Export earnings stood at $553 million in FY24. They then increased to $903 million in FY25.

The latest figure represents another increase in export earnings. It also exceeds the previous record of $903 million recorded in FY25.

Growth in Petroleum Exports

The country’s petroleum export performance has changed significantly over the years. Exports stood at $676 million in FY19.

However, petroleum exports declined sharply in the following years. They fell to $369 million in FY20 and $235 million in FY21.

Exports later recovered to $415 million in FY22. They then declined again to $291 million in FY23.

The sector began showing stronger growth in FY24. Petroleum exports increased to $553 million during that fiscal year.

The upward trend continued in FY25. Export earnings reached $903 million during the period.

Low-Sulphur Products Support Growth

Topline Securities attributed the latest growth to higher exports of low-sulphur petroleum products.

One key product is Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil, commonly known as VLSFO. The fuel is mainly used in the maritime industry.

The shift toward low-sulphur products has supported Pakistan’s export performance. Lower domestic furnace oil demand has also contributed to the increase.

Furnace oil demand has weakened in the domestic market. This has created room for greater exports of certain petroleum products.

Pakistan’s Petroleum exports are therefore benefiting from changing domestic consumption patterns. The growing demand for cleaner marine fuels has also supported export opportunities.

Record Export Performance

The FY26 export figure highlights a major improvement in Pakistan’s petroleum sector. Earnings have increased significantly compared with levels recorded several years ago.

The $939 million figure is also substantially higher than the $235 million recorded in FY21. It represents a strong recovery from the sector’s earlier decline.

The latest performance indicates continued growth in petroleum export activity. Low-sulphur products are expected to remain an important part of this trend.

Pakistan’s Petroleum export earnings reached their highest level in FY26. The record reflects changing product demand and improved export opportunities.

Overall, petroleum exports have followed a strong upward path since FY23. The sector’s export value has more than tripled from $291 million in FY23.
