OnePlus 12 To Feature Improved Sony Low Light Camera

The OnePlus 12 is expected to launch in December, and initial speculations suggested a camera configuration with a 50 MP primary sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64 MP telephoto lens.

However, recent information from the trustworthy leaker ‘Digital Chat Station’ provides more details on the camera specs.

The ultra-wide camera will now feature a 48 MP 1/2” sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and the zoom lens will incorporate a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). The most surprising update pertains to the new primary sensor, the 50 MP Sony IMX966.

According to previous reports from the same source, this new Sony sensor is expected to deliver performance comparable to the Sony IMX989, which is considered a 1”-type image sensor. Despite its smaller physical size, the sensor compensates with a dual-layer construction that enhances its sensitivity.

This sensor will be enhanced by optical image stabilization (OIS) and will leverage the computational photography capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Additionally, the 64 MP telephoto camera, which is expected to offer 3x optical zoom, will excel in low-light conditions, thanks to the capabilities of the new Qualcomm chipset.

The OnePlus 12 is set to debut in December, starting with its launch in China and a global release planned for early 2024.
