Novak Djokovic’s Championship Racquet Sells for Whopping $107,482 at Auction

Novak Djokovic’s tennis racquet, used in the 2016 Roland Garros Final where he clinched his maiden championship, fetched an astounding $107,482 at auction.

The final, contested against his longtime rival Andy Murray, saw Djokovic rally after losing the opening set, ultimately securing victory with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

In celebration of his triumph in Paris, Djokovic marked the occasion by painting a sizable heart on the clay court using his racket, which he then tossed into the bleachers. Six years later, Abby Doherty, the fortunate recipient, decided to part with this historic racket.

The auction, held by SCP Auctions in California, witnessed the 27-inch Head Speed Graphene Touch PT113B racket achieve an unprecedented selling price of $107,482. This marks the highest amount ever paid for a tennis racket in any auction.

Djokovic’s victory not only secured the Career Grand Slam, encompassing all four Major Championships, but also established him as the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to simultaneously hold all four Grand Slam titles. Prior to his Roland Garros success, Djokovic had previously triumphed at Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open in 2015.
