The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has registered three FIRs following separate incidents involving traffic violations and a suspected cash-dropping scam.
The action was taken by the Motorway Central-I Zone as part of efforts to enforce traffic laws and address criminal activities. The cases involved dangerous speeding, overloading, and a reported scam at a motorway service area.
According to NHMP spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad, officers took legal action in all three incidents. The cases were registered at different police stations across Punjab.
NHMP Takes Action Against Dangerous Speeding
In the first incident, NHMP officers intercepted a vehicle near Pirmahal on the M-3 Motorway. The vehicle was reportedly travelling at an extremely dangerous speed of 174 kilometres per hour.
The officers initiated legal proceedings against the driver for the traffic violation. An FIR was subsequently registered at Police Station Rajana in District Toba Tek Singh.
The incident highlights the motorway police’s efforts to address dangerous driving. Excessive speed can increase the risk of accidents and threaten the safety of other road users.
The NHMP continues to monitor motorway traffic and take action against drivers who violate road safety regulations.
Overloaded Trailer Intercepted Near Nankana Sahib
In another incident, motorway police officers intercepted an overloaded trailer near Nankana Sahib on the M-3 Motorway.
During the inspection, officials found that the trailer was carrying weight beyond the legally permitted limit. The driver was handed over for legal proceedings following the discovery.
An FIR was registered at Police Station Sharqpur Sharif in District Sheikhupura. The case relates to the vehicle’s violation of permitted weight limits.
Overloaded vehicles can pose safety risks and place additional pressure on road infrastructure. Enforcement against such violations forms part of measures to improve motorway safety.
The action reflects the NHMP’s focus on identifying vehicles that do not comply with applicable transport regulations.
FIR Registered Over Cash-Dropping Scam
The third case involved a reported cash-dropping scam at the Sial More Service Area. Authorities took legal action following the incident.
An FIR was registered at Police Station Laksian in District Sargodha. However, further details about the alleged scam and the individuals involved were not provided in the available information.
The case adds a criminal investigation to the separate traffic enforcement actions taken by the motorway police.
