Naumaan Ijaz Shares Cancer Recovery Story

Pakistani actor Naumaan Ijaz has opened up about his cancer diagnosis and recovery, sharing how daily recitation of Surah Rehman became an important part of his personal journey.

During a recent podcast appearance, the actor revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in June 2024. He said doctors discovered a tumour near his ear as well as lymphoma in his stomach.

Recalling the difficult period, Naumaan said he turned to prayer and asked Allah for mercy and strength.

The actor also spoke about his fears surrounding treatment, hospital visits and the possible impact of his illness on his family. He said the thought of his loved ones suffering because of his condition was particularly distressing.

According to Naumaan, he began reciting different verses and prayers before going to sleep because he feared he might not wake up the following morning.

He later said that his friend Gohar Butt advised him to recite Surah Rehman regularly. Naumaan followed the advice and made the recitation part of his daily routine.

The actor said he personally believes the recitation played an important role in his recovery. He revealed that the tumour near his ear was surgically removed, while subsequent scans showed that the lymphoma in his stomach was no longer visible.

Naumaan said doctors had initially planned to begin chemotherapy in July, making the later scan results a major surprise.

Expressing gratitude, the actor said that Allah had been very kind to him throughout his difficult journey.

Naumaan Ijaz remains one of Pakistan’s most respected television actors, with a career spanning numerous acclaimed dramas, including Parizaad, Bismil, Bashar Momin, Mann-o-Salwa, Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi and Dank.
