QUETTA: On Saturday, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in the Noshman neighbourhood of Balochistan’s Dhadar tehsil in Kachhi district, targeting the convoy of Sardar Khan Rind, the son of PTI MPA Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind. Two security guards were killed, while one was injured.

When the IED exploded, Dhadar Assistant Commissioner Fahad Shah Rashdi stated that it had been placed on the side of the road.

The MPA’s son and his entourage were on their way to Dhadar town at the time.

During the assault, Sardar Khan Rind was unharmed, but the wounded guard was sent to Civil Hospital Dhadar.

The guards’ martyred bodies were also brought to the same hospital.

Following the blast, a large number of police, levies and other security personnel reached the scene and cordoned off the area.

In a statement, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo condemned the blast and expressed his grief over the martyrdom of two security guards in the terrorist attack.

The chief minister expressed his gratitude to the Almighty that the MPA’s son remained unharmed in the attack and directed the law enforcement agencies to use all the resources at their disposal to bring the elements involved in the explosion to justice.

He said terrorists wanted to create an atmosphere of fear and panic in Balochistan.

The chief minister pledged that law and order in the province would be maintained at any cost.

Bizenjo extended his condolences and sympathies to the families of the martyred security guards.

On Monday, nine policemen embraced martyrdom and 13 others were injured in a powerful blast in Balochistan’s Bolan district.

A senior security official told that a suicide bomber targeted the police van in the Kumbri area.

After finishing their work at the Sibi festival, the cops were driving home when a suicide bomber struck the police van with his motorcycle, seriously injuring it. The explosion could be heard everywhere.

The historic Sibi Mela, which ended on Sunday, was the terrorists’ intended target. The official claimed that while they were unable to attack the centuries-old celebration, they were successful in attacking the security officers returning to Quetta from Sibi.

134 people died — a 139% increase — and 254 were injured in at least 44 militant attacks across the nation in January 2023, according to statistics issued by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, a think group with offices in Islamabad.
