Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced strict action against housing society owners. She warned that arrests will be made if any citizen falls into an open manhole.
The statement by Maryam Nawaz came after the tragic death of a three-year-old girl in Faisalabad. The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety standards in housing societies.
Maryam Nawaz expressed strong anger over the negligence during a high-level meeting with commissioners. She reviewed ongoing and proposed development projects across different districts of Punjab.
Officials briefed her on the current progress of infrastructure and development work. The chief minister stressed that safety issues must be taken seriously at all levels.
Maryam Nawaz directed commissioners to take immediate action against unsafe conditions in housing societies. She ordered monthly affidavits from all private housing societies. These affidavits must confirm that no open manholes exist in their areas.
She also instructed authorities to issue formal notices to all housing societies across Punjab. These notices will ensure strict compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Maryam Nawaz said negligence in public safety will not be tolerated under any circumstances. She warned that legal action will be taken against responsible individuals and organizations.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz also approved several welfare projects under the District Development Plan. These projects will be funded through local revenue resources.
She emphasized the need for active field monitoring by commissioners. She said officials must not limit their work to office desks. Regular visits to project sites are necessary for better governance.
District officers briefed the chief minister on development projects in their respective areas. They provided updates on progress, challenges, and ongoing improvements.
