An all-girls team from Lahore Grammar School (LGS) 55 Main has won the Global Finals Championship at the 2026 Global Future Space Scholars’ Meet (GFSSM).
The international final round was held in Beijing, China, from August 13 to 17. The students represented Pakistan and secured the top position against teams from several countries.
The championship-winning team included Alina Imran, Amna Ahmed, Areeba Shakeel, Eshaal Haroon, Fatima Farukh, Mariam Abdul Rahman, Shanzay Umar, Sheza Imran, Umayma Fatima, Wania Saqib, Zahra Fatima and Zainab Tahir.
The students were accompanied and mentored by their teachers, Amina Sabahat and Nadeem Anwar. The team also won several team and individual awards during the competition.
GFSSM is an international competition focused on engineering and space-related challenges for school students. It combines science, engineering, business, design, communication and problem-solving skills.
The 2026 final brought together 260 students from nine countries in Beijing. The wider competition included participants from more than 17 countries and regions.
During the final round, students from different countries were placed into multinational teams. They worked together as virtual companies to develop space-related project proposals.
The teams were given only 24 hours to develop their projects. They then presented and defended their proposals before an international judging panel.
Pakistan was represented by students from several Lahore Grammar School campuses. These included LGS 55 Main, LGS 14-C and LGS Phase 5.
LGS Phase 5 also delivered a strong performance at the international competition. Its team finished as second runner-up, securing third place overall.
The third-place position was shared with three other international teams. The result gave Pakistan another strong finish at the prestigious student competition.
The LGS Phase 5 team included Pareesa Zaid, Muhammad Raamish Nauman, Muhammad Rafay Ammar, Ibrahim Lodhi, Amna Qureshi, Umair Alam, Zoya Hasan Tariq, Alina Binte Amir, Isra Ahmed Bashir, Safdar Zaman, Muhammad Ahmad and Ali Khurram.
With LGS 55 Main winning the championship and LGS Phase 5 finishing third, Pakistani students achieved two major results at the 2026 GFSSM.
The achievement highlights the growing participation of Pakistani students in international science, technology and space-focused competitions.
The victory also reflects the students’ ability to work under pressure and solve complex problems within strict time limits.
The success in Beijing has attracted attention to the achievements of Pakistani school students on the international stage. It has also provided a major boost to the participating students and their schools.
The championship-winning performance marks a proud moment for Pakistan as the LGS 55 Main team emerged at the top of a global competition involving students from different countries.
