The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) is set to carry out widespread planned power shutdowns across Lahore and nearby districts as part of maintenance and system upgrades ahead of winter. The scheduled work is expected to affect around 200 urban and rural subdivisions, with consumers facing several hours without electricity each day.
According to the reported schedule, power outages will generally last between five and seven hours. In some areas, the duration could reach eight hours. Most shutdowns are expected to take place between 9 am and 4 pm, although timings may vary depending on the location and maintenance work.
The activity is aimed at improving the electricity distribution system and preparing it for seasonal demand during the winter months.
Which Areas Will Be Affected by Lesco Power Cuts?
Several residential, commercial and industrial areas across Lahore are expected to experience temporary electricity interruptions.
In Lahore, the affected locations include Allama Iqbal Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Shadman, Johar Town, Model Town, Defence, Cantt and areas around Walton Road.
Industrial and commercial areas near Raiwind, Manga Mandi, Sundar and Jubilee Town are also included in the reported shutdown schedule. Businesses in these locations may need to make arrangements to manage operations during the planned outages.
The maintenance programme will also cover parts of surrounding districts. In Sheikhupura, the reported locations include Qila Sattar Shah and Atta Abad. Other areas mentioned in the schedule include parts of Kasur, Okara, Muridke, Farooqabad, Hujra Shah Muqeem and Phool Nagar.
Consumers should check the schedule issued by their local Lesco office to confirm the exact shutdown timing for their area. The reported list of locations may not represent every affected feeder or subdivision.
Why Is Lesco Carrying Out Power Shutdowns?
Lesco is planning maintenance and upgrades to improve the condition and reliability of its electricity distribution network. The work will involve 132kV and 220kV grid stations and their connected 11kV feeders.
The planned activities include replacing worn conductors, insulators and other electrical equipment. Teams will also trim tree branches growing close to high-voltage lines to help reduce the risk of faults.
In addition, Lesco plans to overhaul grid stations and divide certain feeders to improve system management and handle changing electricity demand during winter.
Although these activities require temporary interruptions in supply, maintenance is intended to address equipment issues and improve the distribution system.
Concerns Over Delays in Power Restoration
Sources have reportedly indicated that some Lesco field offices experienced delays in receiving essential maintenance equipment and replacement parts. These delays have raised concerns that work could take longer than expected in certain areas.
However, the reported information does not confirm that every scheduled shutdown will be extended. Consumers should follow updates from Lesco and their local electricity offices for any changes to the timetable.
What Should Consumers Do Before the Shutdowns?
Residents and businesses in affected areas should prepare for the planned outages by charging mobile phones, laptops and power banks in advance. People who rely on electrically powered equipment should make suitable arrangements before their local shutdown begins.
Businesses can also plan essential activities around the expected outage window. Consumers should avoid relying on general timings alone and confirm the schedule for their particular area or feeder.
The maintenance programme is expected to cover a large part of Lesco’s service area. Residents should therefore stay alert for official updates and allow for possible changes in shutdown timings as the work progresses.
