Lebanon Army Chief Meets Asim Munir in Key GHQ Talks

General Rodolphe Haykal, Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during an official visit to General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting Lebanese military chief was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent. The ceremony highlighted the formal and cordial nature of the high-level engagement between the two armed forces.

During the meeting, both military leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including the evolving regional security situation, defence collaboration, and broader strategic developments. The discussions also focused on expanding institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon.

ISPR stated that both sides emphasized strengthening professional military-to-military relations, increasing training exchanges, and improving coordination between defence institutions. The talks reflected a shared interest in deepening long-term cooperation in the security domain.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding relations with Lebanon. He also highlighted Pakistan Army’s commitment to enhancing defence collaboration and supporting closer engagement between the two armed forces.

General Rodolphe Haykal appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions to regional stability and international peacekeeping missions. He also expressed interest in expanding bilateral military ties.

The visit comes at a time of heightened regional tensions in the Middle East, where diplomatic efforts continue to focus on stabilizing the security environment. Analysts note that such engagements reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen military diplomacy amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
