Authorities in Lahore have announced the establishment of temporary cattle markets starting May 13 to assist citizens ahead of Eidul Adha 2026.
The Punjab Cattle Market Management Company (PCMMC) will set up five temporary sale points across the city to facilitate the buying and selling of sacrificial animals. These arrangements aim to ensure organized trading and better facilities for the public during the festive season.
The permanent Shahpur Kanjran cattle market will continue to operate throughout the year as a model facility. In addition, several temporary locations have been designated for Eid-related livestock trade. These include Saggian (25 acres), Wahga Sports Complex (50 acres), Barkee Road (20 acres), LDA City (65 acres), and Raiwind (25 acres).
To ensure convenience for visitors, the administration will provide essential facilities such as tents, drinking water, and awareness banners at all designated sites. These measures are intended to improve the overall experience for both buyers and sellers.
Security arrangements will be managed jointly by the Punjab Police and Para Force to maintain order and safety at all cattle markets. Furthermore, departments including Health, Rescue 1122, and Livestock will also be deployed to ensure smooth operations and emergency response readiness.
Meanwhile, in another development, authorities in Karachi have also approved the establishment of cattle markets ahead of Eidul Adha 2026. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has been permitted to set up livestock sale points at five locations across the city.
According to the official notification, these markets will be established at Sunday Bazaar in North Karachi, KMC Grounds, Safari Park, and Gulistan-e-Johar Blocks 5 and 6. Additional arrangements will also be made on vacant plots in Lyari’s Bakra Piri area and Korangi.
Earlier, KMC had requested approval for 11 livestock markets across the city to ensure better regulation and organized facilities for Eid-related animal trading.
