Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is set to arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday for a two-day official visit, as both countries seek to strengthen bilateral relations and explore cooperation in defence, energy, and investment.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the visit will take place from July 28 to 29, 2026, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The visit reflects the longstanding partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During his stay, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah will hold official talks with Ishaq Dar. The discussions will cover the full spectrum of Pakistan-Kuwait relations, including political, economic, trade, and regional cooperation. Both sides are also expected to exchange views on key regional and international developments.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister is also scheduled to meet Pakistan’s top leadership during the visit. Officials from both countries are expected to discuss ways to further strengthen diplomatic ties and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
The visit comes amid reports that Pakistan and Kuwait are discussing a possible expansion of defence cooperation linked to energy partnerships and investment. According to reports, the discussions remain at an early stage, and no final agreement has been announced.
Reports suggest that several Gulf countries have shown increased interest in defence cooperation with Pakistan following Islamabad’s mutual defence agreement with Saudi Arabia signed last year. However, officials acknowledge that ongoing regional tensions, particularly between the United States and Iran, could influence the pace of such negotiations.
Earlier reports also indicated concerns within Pakistan that its defence partnership with Saudi Arabia could potentially draw the country into wider regional conflicts. Following an attack by the Iran-aligned Houthi movement on Saudi Arabia, Pakistan reportedly conveyed to Iran that it would consider any attack on the kingdom as an attack on itself.
The current visit is expected to reinforce Pakistan-Kuwait relations and may pave the way for greater cooperation in defence, energy, investment, and other sectors in the future.
