After 40 Years, This Karachi Area Finally Gets a Major Road

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has inaugurated a newly constructed road connecting Khwaja Ajmer Nagri in District Central with Manghopir in District West. The project has been completed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and is expected to improve connectivity between the two areas.

According to the Karachi Mayor, the road project was planned with long-term infrastructure improvements in mind. Before laying the road, KMC replaced the area’s water supply, sewerage, and drainage lines to strengthen the underground utility network.

The project is aimed at improving transportation while reducing future maintenance issues caused by aging infrastructure.

Underground Infrastructure Replaced

The Karachi Mayor said KMC completed important utility work before starting road construction.

The authority replaced old water pipelines, sewerage lines, and drainage systems across the project area.

This work was carried out to improve public services and avoid repeated road digging for repair work in the future.

According to the mayor, upgrading underground infrastructure first will help increase the road’s lifespan.

New Street Lighting Installed

Along with the road, KMC has also installed a new street lighting system.

The lighting is expected to improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians during the evening and nighttime.

Officials believe the improved lighting will also contribute to better public safety along the route.

The combined development aims to provide a safer and more reliable travel experience for local residents.

Public Welcomes the Project

Barrister Murtaza Wahab said the inauguration ceremony attracted many local residents.

People from the surrounding neighborhoods gathered to welcome the opening of the road.

Children also participated in the event, making the ceremony a community gathering.

The Karachi Mayor shared that several residents informed him this was the first major development project completed in the area in nearly 40 years.

The mayor said the public response reflected the importance of infrastructure improvements in the locality.

Improved Access Between Two Districts

The new road provides a direct connection between Khwaja Ajmer Nagri and Manghopir, improving travel between District Central and District West.

The route is expected to make daily commuting easier for residents and improve access to nearby neighborhoods.

Better road connectivity may also help reduce travel time for people using the route regularly.

KMC has stated that the project is part of its broader efforts to improve Karachi’s road network and public infrastructure.

By completing underground utility upgrades before road construction, the authority aims to provide a durable solution that benefits residents for many years.
