Islamabad United To Face Multan Sultans In PSL 9 Final Today
Karachi’s National Bank Stadium is poised to host the PSL 9 final on March 18, featuring table-toppers Multan Sultans against Islamabad United, vying for the prestigious Orion trophy. The press release issued by the PCB indicates that the first ball is scheduled to be delivered at 9 pm, with the toss preceding at 8:30 pm. Multan Sultans, having secured their spot in the final by defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the Qualifier, are set to contest their fourth consecutive final. While they clinched the championship title in the 2021 edition, they finished as runners-up in the subsequent two editions, during which Lahore Qalandars emerged victorious twice.
Following a third-place finish on the table, Islamabad United triumphed over Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in the two eliminators to secure a coveted berth in the final. This marks United’s first final appearance since 2018 when they last lifted the PSL title. Leading up to the playoffs, Multan Sultans amassed 14 points from seven wins out of ten games, while Islamabad United managed five wins, with their home fixture against Lahore Qalandars ending in a washout, leaving them with 11 points, tied with fourth-placed Quetta Gladiators.

Key players in the final include Multan’s Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khan, who rank as the second and third highest run-scorers, respectively, behind Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam.
