The Islamabad High Court has announced holidays for Eid al-Adha, with court operations set to remain suspended for three days. According to an official notification, the IHC and its subordinate courts will stay closed from May 26 to May 28.
The notification was issued by the registrar of the court after receiving approval from the chief justice. The announcement confirmed that all judicial proceedings during these dates will remain suspended due to Eid holidays.
The IHC said the closure will begin on Tuesday, May 26, and continue until Thursday, May 28. During this period, regular hearings and court-related matters will not take place. Lawyers, litigants, and court staff have been informed about the revised schedule.
The decision is part of the official Eid holiday arrangements observed across government institutions in Pakistan. Every year, courts and public offices announce closures during major religious events. Eid al-Adha is one of the most important Islamic festivals in the country.
In addition to the Eid holidays, the ongoing austerity campaign will also affect court operations. According to the update, there will be no judicial work from Friday to Sunday as well. This means the overall closure period for the courts will extend beyond the announced Eid holidays.
The extended break is expected to delay some pending court cases and hearings. However, court officials said the schedule follows the approved holiday calendar and administrative policies.
The IHC plays an important role in handling constitutional, civil, and criminal matters in the federal capital. Thousands of people visit the court every week for legal proceedings. The temporary closure will affect routine legal work for several days.
Meanwhile, people associated with the legal system have been advised to plan their activities according to the announced schedule. Court proceedings are expected to resume after the holiday period ends.
The IHC notification has already been circulated among legal offices and court departments. Authorities said further updates will be shared if there are any changes to the schedule.
