Pakistan is expected to begin receiving applications for Hajj 2027 under the government scheme later this week, according to sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
Sources said the ministry will officially announce the opening of the application process in the coming days. Eligible applicants will be able to apply under the government Hajj scheme through the prescribed procedure.
According to the proposed plan, pilgrims will be allowed to pay Hajj expenses in two instalments. Applicants choosing the long Hajj package will be required to deposit an initial payment of Rs500,000, while those opting for the short Hajj package will have to pay Rs550,000 as the first instalment.
The long Hajj package is expected to last 38 to 42 days, whereas the short package will span 20 to 25 days. Sources also said the estimated Hajj cost for overseas Pakistanis will be around Rs1.25 million.
Meanwhile, the registration process for Hajj up to 2030 will remain open, allowing intending pilgrims to register for future years. According to the ministry, more than 380,000 people have already completed their Hajj registration.
Earlier, the Ministry of Religious Affairs introduced a 16-page Multi-Year Hajj Policy and Plan (2027–2030) aimed at improving transparency, operational efficiency, and long-term planning. Under the policy, Pakistan plans to secure three- to four-year agreements with Saudi service providers for air travel, accommodation, transport, catering, and baggage handling to reduce costs.
The new policy also allocates 60 percent of Pakistan’s Hajj quota to the government scheme, while the remaining 40 percent will be reserved for private Hajj operators.
In addition, the ministry has abolished paper-based cash transactions, with all payments to be processed through the State Bank of Pakistan and integrated digital payment systems. A new Hajj Savings Scheme has also been introduced, allowing applicants to deposit 10 percent of the estimated Hajj cost to secure priority registration for their preferred Hajj year on a first-come, first-served basis.
