Gold Prices Drop Sharply in Pakistan as Global Rates Fall

Gold prices in Pakistan fell sharply on the last trading day of the week, reversing the previous session’s gains as the local bullion market followed a fresh decline in international gold prices.

According to the latest Sarafa market rates, the price of 24-karat gold dropped by Rs3,700 per tola, bringing the new rate to Rs426,736 per tola. Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold declined by Rs3,202, settling at Rs365,857.

The decline came after international gold prices fell by $37 per ounce, taking the global rate to $4,043 per ounce, including a $20 premium. The weaker international market directly impacted domestic bullion prices, leading to lower rates across Pakistan.

In Lahore, bullion traders quoted 24-karat gold (piece) at Rs430,000 per tola for selling and Rs429,500 for buying. 24-karat Pathoor gold was available at Rs425,000 for selling and Rs423,000 for buying.

The price of 22-karat gold in Lahore stood at Rs394,166 per tola, while 21-karat gold was quoted at Rs376,250 per tola. These rates also reflected the downward trend seen in the international bullion market.

In Karachi, the 24-karat gold selling price was reported at Rs429,000 per tola, with local jewellers adjusting prices in line with fluctuations in the global market.

Silver prices remained relatively stable. In Lahore, 999 Tezabi silver was quoted at Rs6,250 per tola, while a 1-kilogram silver bar was priced at Rs6,300 and a 10-tola silver piece at Rs6,350.

Bullion traders said local gold prices will continue to move in line with international market trends and exchange rate fluctuations. Investors and buyers are advised to monitor market developments before making purchasing decisions.
