Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Gohar Ali Khan has rejected reports that all party powers have been transferred to the parliamentary party. He issued the clarification on Sunday amid reports about changes in the party’s decision-making structure.
Gohar Ali Khan explained that PTI has three separate forums responsible for different areas of party affairs. These include the core committee, political committee and parliamentary party.
He said each forum has its own responsibilities and role within the party. According to him, the core committee and political committee hold authority over decisions concerning party affairs.
The parliamentary party, meanwhile, focuses on matters related to parliamentary activities. Gohar clarified that its responsibilities are different from those of the other two forums.
His statement aimed to address reports suggesting the parliamentary party had received complete control over PTI’s decisions. He maintained that the party’s existing decision-making structure remained based on these separate roles.
Gohar Ali Khan Clarifies PTI Decision-Making Structure
Gohar Ali Khan said the parliamentary party holds an important position within PTI. He added that its proposals and recommendations are given due consideration.
According to the PTI chairman, the parliamentary party’s suggestions are not ignored during discussions. Instead, they are presented before the core committee and political committee for review.
These committees then consider the proposals as part of the party’s decision-making process. The clarification highlighted the distinction between parliamentary responsibilities and broader organisational decisions.
Gohar Ali Khan did not describe the parliamentary party as an unimportant forum. Rather, he emphasised its respected position and the value attached to its recommendations.
His remarks outlined how the three forums contribute to the party’s internal affairs. They also addressed confusion over whether the parliamentary party had become the sole authority on PTI matters.
PTI Chairman Addresses Reports of Transfer of Powers
The clarification comes amid discussion about the distribution of authority within PTI. Gohar rejected the claim that all party powers had shifted to the parliamentary party.
He reiterated that the core committee and political committee remain responsible for decisions concerning party affairs. Parliamentary matters continue to fall within the parliamentary party’s area of responsibility.
The PTI chairman also stressed that recommendations from parliamentary members receive proper attention. Their proposals are placed before the relevant committees for consideration.
The statement provided clarification on the party’s internal structure and decision-making process. It distinguished between the responsibilities of its organisational committees and elected parliamentary representatives.
Gohar’s remarks indicate that PTI’s decision-making responsibilities remain divided among its three forums. Each body performs a separate role, while parliamentary recommendations continue to form part of internal discussions.
