FPSC Reschedules Phase-I 2026 General Recruitment Tests to May 9–20

The Federal Public Service Commission has officially announced new dates for its General Recruitment Tests Phase-I/2026. The decision came after the exams were postponed last week. The revised schedule has been shared through an official public notice.

According to the latest update, the tests will now be held from May 9 to May 20, 2026. Earlier, these exams were planned from April 25 to May 6. The change affects many candidates preparing for competitive recruitment opportunities.

The FPSC said that updated admission certificates and the revised timetable will be uploaded by May 2. Registered candidates are advised to check the official FPSC website regularly for updates. The commission also shared helpline numbers for those needing further guidance during working hours.

The notice explained that the postponement happened due to administrative reasons. However, the revised dates also come during a period of increased security arrangements in Islamabad.

These arrangements were linked to the proposed second round of peace talks involving the United States and Iran. The diplomatic meetings were expected to take place in Islamabad last week. Pakistan had been working to support continued dialogue after the first round of discussions earlier this month.

Although the second round of talks did not proceed as planned, the situation affected normal schedules in the capital. The visit of senior US envoys was canceled at the last moment. This led to uncertainty around the expected meetings.

Despite this, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi still visited Islamabad. He met with Pakistani officials as diplomatic efforts continued.

The exam schedule revision has brought relief to candidates who were waiting for clarity. Many had been uncertain about the new dates after the postponement.

The FPSC remains one of Pakistan’s key recruitment bodies for federal government positions. Its testing process is important for thousands of applicants each year.
