Direct flights between Peshawar and Lahore will resume on November 9, offering passengers a faster travel option between the two major cities.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi announced the development, saying the air service would begin on Iqbal Day. The flights are being restored in collaboration with South Airways.
The new service is expected to reduce travel time between Peshawar and Lahore to approximately 50 minutes to one hour. This will provide relief to passengers who currently have to spend several hours travelling between the cities by road.
Four Flights a Week on Peshawar-Lahore Route
Initially, the airline will operate four flights per week between Peshawar and Lahore.
The first flight is scheduled to depart from Peshawar for Lahore at approximately 1 p.m. on November 9.
Authorities may increase the number of flights in the future, depending on passenger demand and the performance of the route.
The restored air connection is expected to benefit people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who live, work or conduct business in Lahore.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said the service would provide a convenient travel option for businesspeople, employees and other residents who regularly travel between the two cities.
Peshawar to Quetta Flights Already Operating
The governor also shared an update on other domestic air connections.
According to Kundi, the direct flight service between Peshawar and Quetta is already operating successfully. The provincial government is also working to improve air connectivity with other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Authorities are exploring the possibility of introducing flights to Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral and Parachinar.
These proposed routes could make air travel more accessible for residents of areas that are located far from major cities or have difficult road connections.
The expansion of domestic flights is expected to improve travel options for passengers and support business and tourism activities across the province.
Government Plans to Improve Air Connectivity
The restoration of the Peshawar-Lahore route is part of broader efforts to strengthen air connectivity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Better flight connections could help passengers save time and make travel more convenient. They may also support people travelling for education, healthcare, employment and business purposes.
The proposed routes to Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral and Parachinar could further connect remote areas with major urban centres.
Governor Kundi said efforts would continue to improve facilities and connectivity across the province. He also pledged to work towards restoring Peshawar’s identity as the “City of Flowers”.
With the Peshawar-Lahore service scheduled to begin on November 9, passengers will soon have another option for travelling between the two cities. The initial four weekly flights will provide a starting point, while authorities may consider expanding the service in the future.
