The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has advised dual nationals and overseas Pakistanis travelling to Pakistan to make sure they have valid travel documents and meet all applicable immigration requirements before starting their journey.
According to an FIA official, dual nationals travelling to Pakistan should carry a valid Pakistani passport, National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), or Pakistan e-Visa where applicable. Travellers have been advised to check their documents before boarding their flights to avoid problems at immigration counters.
The FIA clarified that Pakistani nationals working abroad can return to Pakistan even if their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) has expired, provided they have the other required travel documents in accordance with applicable regulations.
The clarification is particularly relevant for overseas Pakistanis who may be concerned about travelling with an expired CNIC. The FIA said passengers should ensure that they have acceptable travel documents available before beginning their journey.
The agency has urged all passengers to verify the latest travel and immigration requirements before boarding their flights. Travellers should also make sure that their passports are valid and that their identity documents are up to date and acceptable for the journey.
Dual nationals have been specifically advised to carry the appropriate Pakistani travel documentation when entering the country. Depending on their circumstances, this may include a Pakistani passport, NICOP or an e-Visa.
The FIA stressed the importance of checking documentation in advance rather than waiting until reaching the airport. Proper preparation can help passengers avoid delays, confusion or inconvenience during the immigration process.
Overseas Pakistanis returning to the country are also encouraged to confirm which documents apply to their individual travel status. Requirements can vary depending on nationality, passport status and other applicable immigration rules.

For Pakistani nationals working abroad, the clarification regarding expired CNICs provides an important point of guidance. However, travellers must still possess the other required documents and comply with applicable regulations.
