Data reveals 54.53% candidates failed in Urdu in CSS Exam in past three years

Details of candidates who appeared for the Central Superior Services (CSS) Examination in the past three years were presented in the National Assembly on Friday.

Candidates comprised those who passed and failed in various subjects from the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. According to the details, at least 54.53% of candidates failed in Pakistan’s national language Urdu in the last three years.

A written response from the Establishment Division was presented in the National Assembly session with details of the candidates.

According to the Establishment Division, 30% of candidates failed Urdu in 2019, while the rate of failure increased to 59% and 73% in 2020 and 2021, respectively. In the last three years, the overall failure rate was 54.53%.

Over a three-year period, 45,800 candidates out of 49,500 failed the essay writing test, according to the report. In 2019, 13,328 candidates out of 14,205 failed the essay writing test, while 6% passed the subject.

According to the report from 2020, 17,735 out of 18,387 candidates failed the essay writing test, with only 4% passing. In 2021, however, at least 14,760 of the 16,887 candidates who appeared failed the subject. In 2021, the success rate was 13%, with 87% of candidates failing.

In terms of English success rates, the house was informed that 35,000 out of 49,500 candidates failed the subject in 2019, with a 73% failure rate, which fell to 39% and 92% in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

In the Pakistan Affairs subject, the rate of candidates that flunked remained 37% in 2019, 71% in 2020 and 46% in 2021. In Islamiat, 18% candidates failed in 2019, 51% in 2020 and 81% in 2021.
