The CM Punjab Rahmat Card programme has entered a new stage as digital payments have started for selected beneficiaries across Punjab. The payments are being made through JazzCash after the successful completion of the computerized ballot held on June 23, 2026.
This marks an important step in the welfare initiative. The project has now moved from selecting eligible applicants to providing financial assistance. The programme aims to make welfare distribution faster, more transparent, and easier to access.
The CM Punjab Rahmat Card is a joint initiative of the Government of Punjab and several public institutions. These include the Zakat & Ushr Department, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), NADRA, Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA), Urban Unit, JazzCash, and other partners.
The programme was created to digitize the complete welfare process. It covers everything from citizen applications and eligibility checks to beneficiary selection and digital payment distribution.
After the computerized ballot, selected widows and orphans became eligible to receive financial assistance. The latest payment phase completes another major milestone of the project.
Officials praised the successful implementation of the digital system during the ballot ceremony. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rashid Iqbal Nasrullah appreciated the PITB team for providing technical support throughout the project. He also acknowledged the guidance of PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf during different stages of implementation.
Secretary of the Zakat & Ushr Department, Irfan Ahmad Sandhu, also recognized the efforts of PITB. He praised the team for designing and launching the digital platform within the required timeline despite several challenges.
According to officials, the CM Punjab Rahmat Card is the first programme of its kind launched by the Zakat & Ushr Department at this scale. It replaces traditional manual procedures with a fully digital system. This approach improves transparency, efficiency, accountability, and the speed of welfare delivery.
The digital platform includes several modern services. Citizens can submit applications through an online portal or an Android mobile application. A dedicated helpline is also available for assistance, complaints, and application-related questions.
The system also features a Beneficiary Management System and a digital verification engine. It connects with NADRA and the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) to verify applicant information. Automated scrutiny and eligibility checks help ensure that assistance reaches deserving beneficiaries.
A computerized district-wise balloting system was used to select successful applicants. Administrative dashboards allow officials to monitor the programme in real time and support data-based decision-making.
The complete digital workflow allows applications to be submitted online and verified through multiple government databases. Eligible applicants are then assessed according to approved criteria, assigned district quotas, and selected through a transparent computerized ballot. After selection, financial assistance is transferred securely through JazzCash.
The project demonstrates how digital technology can improve public services. By bringing several government institutions onto one platform, the initiative supports secure payments, faster processing, and better coordination between departments.
