Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered strict monitoring across Murree following heavy rainfall that raised concerns over possible landslides in the popular hill station. Continuous rain, combined with thick fog covering the mountains, prompted authorities to remain on high alert to protect residents and visitors.

According to official reports, relief activities began immediately after the chief minister issued instructions on Saturday. Rescue teams and local authorities are actively working in the landslide-affected areas near Jhikka Gali to ensure public safety and restore normal conditions. Emergency personnel have been deployed to monitor the situation and respond quickly to any further incidents.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also requested a detailed report on the conditions in the affected Jhikka Gali area. She directed the relevant departments to maintain close surveillance and take all necessary steps to minimise risks caused by unstable slopes and ongoing wet weather.
The chief minister praised the district administration and Rescue 1122 teams for their prompt response and professional handling of the emergency. She commended the officers and rescue workers for carrying out timely operations that helped protect lives and ensured safe assistance for those in the affected locations.
Maryam Nawaz said that true governance is reflected when the government stands with its people during difficult situations. She emphasised that public safety remains the administration’s highest priority and instructed officials to stay vigilant until weather conditions improve.
Meanwhile, Murree continued to receive rainfall, while dense fog reduced visibility across many urban and hilly areas. Although the showers brought cooler temperatures and pleasant weather, the combination of rain and fog created hazardous travelling conditions.
The district administration has advised both residents and tourists to exercise extreme caution while travelling in Murree. Motorists have been urged to drive carefully due to limited visibility, while visitors are encouraged to follow official safety instructions and avoid unnecessary travel through landslide-prone areas until conditions become safer.
