The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its operation against illegal encroachments in Islamabad, reclaiming government land valued at approximately Rs1.3 trillion.
The campaign is being carried out under the direction of Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi and led by CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf. The operation aims to protect public property, remove illegal structures and clear land required for Islamabad’s planned development.
According to the CDA, several major areas have been cleared, while further operations are underway to recover additional government land.
600 Acres Recovered Near Prime Minister’s House
The CDA said it has reclaimed approximately 600 acres of government land near the Prime Minister’s House.
The recovery is part of a wider effort to remove illegal occupation from public property in the federal capital. Authorities are working to ensure that government land remains protected and available for approved development projects.
The authority said the operation is also intended to remove obstacles that have affected Islamabad’s organised urban expansion.
Major Land Recovery in Sector E-12
One of the major achievements reported by the CDA is the recovery of 1,135 kanals of land in Sector E-12.
The authority said the recovery has cleared the way for development activities to resume in the sector. Development work in the area had remained stalled for decades due to land-related issues and encroachments.
The recovery is expected to help authorities move forward with planned infrastructure and development projects.
The sector’s development has been a long-standing issue for residents and property owners waiting for progress in the area.
Illegal Structures Removed in Sector C-17
The CDA has also taken action against illegal commercial structures in Sector C-17.
According to the authority, structures occupying 116.8 kanals of government land were demolished during the operation.
Meanwhile, five plazas along Murree Road in Malpur have been vacated as part of the anti-encroachment campaign.
The authority is also working to recover another 108 kanals of land in the Malpur area. Further action is expected as the process continues.
CDA Reviewing Land Records and Ownership Documents
The authority said its teams are examining land records, ownership documents and relevant legal requirements during the operations.
This process is aimed at identifying illegal occupation and ensuring that action is taken in accordance with applicable laws.
The CDA said protecting government property is necessary for Islamabad’s organised development. It also stressed that encroachments can create obstacles for infrastructure projects and affect the city’s planned expansion.
The authority has reiterated its commitment to making Islamabad free of illegal encroachments and developing it as an organised and environmentally friendly capital.
According to the CDA, residents have welcomed the recovery of public land and the possibility of long-delayed development projects moving forward.
The anti-encroachment campaign is continuing in different parts of Islamabad, with authorities working to recover additional government land.
