Bangladesh Beat Australia by 9 Wickets in Historic Test

Bangladesh have defeated Australia by nine wickets in the Darwin Test to secure their first Test victory on Australian soil. The historic win came at Marrara Stadium in Darwin on Sunday and ended Bangladesh’s 23-year wait for another Test tour of Australia.

Australia were dismissed for 198 in their first innings, with Hasan Mahmud leading Bangladesh’s bowling attack. He claimed six wickets, while Steven Smith top-scored for Australia with 71 runs. Travis Head added 22 runs.

Bangladesh responded strongly with 426 runs in their first innings. They secured a commanding lead of 228 runs and put Australia under serious pressure. Tanzid Hasan was among the top performers, scoring an impressive 101 runs.

Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed 84 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 65. Mominul Haque also played an important innings of 49 runs. Josh Hazlewood was Australia’s leading bowler, taking six wickets, while Mitchell Starc claimed two.

Australia showed greater resistance in their second innings and scored 284 runs. Cameron Green was the standout batter, scoring 104 runs. Steven Smith made 44, while Alex Carey added 30 runs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz once again proved crucial with the ball. He claimed five wickets during Australia’s second innings. Hasan Mahmud took three wickets, while Taskin Ahmed picked up one wicket.

Bangladesh were left with a target of just 57 runs to complete the historic victory. They reached 57 for one in 14.2 overs and secured a memorable nine-wicket win.

Shadman Islam remained unbeaten on 25 runs, while Mominul Haque finished unbeaten on 30. The pair guided Bangladesh across the finish line without facing serious pressure.

The victory is Bangladesh’s first Test win in Australia. It also came during their first Test tour of the country in 23 years, making the achievement even more significant for the team.

Bangladesh produced an impressive all-round performance throughout the match. Their bowlers created pressure at important moments, while the batters capitalized on Australia’s mistakes.

Hasan Mahmud and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were particularly influential with the ball. Their combined performances played a major role in restricting Australia and keeping Bangladesh in control.
