Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed officials to speed up a technical skills program aimed at preparing 30,000 young people for employment abroad. The initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve job opportunities for young people through practical training and professional development.
The instructions were issued during the 11th board meeting of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA). Officials reviewed ongoing training initiatives, progress on employment targets and delays in the implementation of youth skills programs.
Training Must Lead to Real Jobs
During the meeting, Bugti stressed that technical training should match the needs of the job market. He said the purpose of these programs should not be limited to issuing certificates or qualifications. Instead, training must help young people secure actual employment.
The chief minister called for improvements in training standards and institutional performance. He also directed relevant departments and agencies to work more closely together to ensure that training programs lead to better employment outcomes.
The focus on overseas employment is intended to help trained workers access job opportunities in international markets. However, details about the countries involved, available job categories, application procedures and the timeline for sending workers abroad have not yet been announced.
Employment Plan for 25,000 More Young People
Separately, Bugti ordered officials to prepare a comprehensive strategy to connect 25,000 young people with employment opportunities in Pakistan and abroad.
These young people are expected to complete their technical training by next year. The government wants relevant departments to plan their transition from training to employment so that their skills can be used in the job market.
The strategy is expected to focus on linking trained individuals with suitable employers. Its success will depend on whether the training matches market demand and whether enough job opportunities are available for graduates.
New Portal to Monitor Training Institutes
During the meeting, the chief minister also inaugurated an Institute Registration Portal. The online system is designed to simplify the registration of technical training institutes and improve the monitoring of their performance.
The portal is expected to help authorities maintain better records of training institutions and strengthen oversight of the vocational education system.
Officials also reviewed delays in the Chief Minister’s Youth Skills Development Program. According to the meeting’s briefing, action had been initiated against those held responsible for implementation delays and failure to achieve targets.
Bugti directed authorities to accelerate ongoing training projects and regularly assess the performance of institutions involved in the programs.
Focus on Youth Employment
The chief minister said practical, employment-focused training could help young people become financially independent, support their families and contribute to Balochistan’s economy.
Technical and vocational education can provide young people with skills needed in different industries. However, effective implementation, quality training and strong links with employers will be important to turn these plans into actual jobs.
The provincial government’s immediate challenge will be to ensure that the targeted young people complete their training on time and gain access to suitable employment opportunities.
