The Balochistan government has announced fully funded foreign PhD scholarships for students from the province under the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF). The initiative aims to provide talented and deserving students with opportunities to pursue doctoral studies at recognized universities abroad.
Under the programme, 10 students from Balochistan will be supported every year to pursue PhD programmes at international universities. The initiative is aimed at expanding access to higher education and creating more opportunities for students from the province to gain international academic and research experience.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti described the scholarship programme as an important step toward improving access to quality higher education for the youth of Balochistan. He said the government wanted talented students from the province to compete for opportunities at leading universities and research institutions around the world.
The chief minister said the initiative would help strengthen the presence of Balochistan’s students in international academic and research institutions. He also highlighted the importance of education, research and awareness in the province’s development.
Bugti linked the scholarship initiative with the provincial government’s wider efforts to address challenges through education and development. He said young people who perform well in education and research could play an important role in shaping the future of Balochistan.
The foreign PhD scholarships will be offered through BEEF, which is being used to support students who may otherwise face financial difficulties in accessing higher education. The programme is expected to help selected students pursue advanced research in international academic environments.
However, the government has not yet announced detailed eligibility criteria for the foreign PhD scholarships. Information about the minimum academic qualification, eligible fields of study, age limit, admission requirements and selection procedure is also yet to be released.
The announcement also does not currently provide a deadline for applications or a list of participating foreign universities. Students will need to wait for the formal scholarship guidelines before submitting applications.
Although the programme has been described as fully funded, applicants should check the official guidelines once released to confirm exactly which expenses will be covered. These may include tuition fees and other study-related costs, but the final funding package will depend on the official terms of the scholarship.
Students from Balochistan interested in pursuing PhD studies abroad should keep their academic documents and other relevant records ready. They should also monitor official government and BEEF updates for the application announcement.
The new programme could provide a valuable opportunity for students from Balochistan to gain international research experience and contribute to the province’s academic and professional development.
