In the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League’s ninth edition, Peshawar Zalmi’s captain, Babar Azam, showcased his T20 prowess by securing yet another century at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Monday. Babar’s exceptional innings unfolded over 59 balls, concluding with an unbeaten 111 runs in a total of 63 balls. This impressive 59-ball century propelled Peshawar Zalmi to a formidable score of 201 runs against Islamabad United.

Having been put into bat first, the Zalmi openers, Saim Ayub and Babar, once again orchestrated a flourishing start with a robust 73-run partnership. They asserted dominance over the United bowlers, scoring at a brisk rate until Ayub fell victim to Salman Ali Agha’s delivery in the eighth over. Babar Azam’s recent achievement adds to his remarkable records in the PSL, as he had previously become the first batsman to surpass the 3,000-run milestone in the tournament’s history just last week. Despite Babar’s individual brilliance, Peshawar Zalmi faced a setback in their opening match of the ninth season, succumbing to a 16-run defeat against Quetta Gladiators. Nonetheless, Babar’s consistent excellence remains a driving force for Peshawar Zalmi as they navigate through the challenges of the PSL’s ninth edition.
