Pakistan’s cricket team leader, Babar Azam, exhibited a game-changing performance against Nepal in the inaugural match of the Asia Cup 2023 at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Operating as captain across all formats, Babar Azam amassed an impressive 151 runs from 131 deliveries, comprising 14 boundaries and four sixes. His performance was pivotal in steering the national team to a substantial total of 343 runs on the scoreboard.

This exceptional feat saw the Lahore-born cricketer surpass Virat Kohli’s previous record for the highest individual score as a captain in Asia Cup history. Kohli had achieved 136 runs against Bangladesh in the 2014 edition, while Sourav Ganguly’s record of 135* against Bangladesh in 2000 also features in the top 5 list.

It’s noteworthy that the 28-year-old batsman is now only one century away from equalling the record held by Saeed Anwar for the most centuries in ODI cricket for Pakistan.
By achieving this century, the right-handed batter made history by securing the title of the fastest player to achieve 19 ODI hundreds, surpassing the record held by former South African player Hashim Amla.
