Babar Azam Resigns from Captaincy Across All Three Formats

Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy in all formats following Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The announcement was made through a statement posted on his social media accounts.

Reflecting on his captaincy journey, Babar stated, “I vividly recall the moment in 2019 when the PCB entrusted me with the leadership of Pakistan. Over the past four years, I have encountered numerous ups and downs both on and off the field. However, my unwavering goal has always been to uphold Pakistan’s pride and reputation in the cricketing world.”

He continued, “Today, I am relinquishing my role as the captain of Pakistan in all formats. While it is a challenging decision, I believe it is the right time for this step. I will continue to contribute to Pakistan as a player across all three formats and am committed to supporting the new captain and the team with my experience and dedication.”

Expressing gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board, Babar added, “I want to extend my sincere thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for entrusting me with this significant responsibility.”
