However, he failed to score and was dismissed early. This meant he could not surpass the record held by Fakhar Zaman.
The previous record was set by Fakhar Zaman in the 2022 PSL season. He scored 588 runs in 13 innings for Lahore Qalandars.
In PSL 2026, Babar Azam also finished with 588 runs. He achieved this in 11 innings, showing strong consistency throughout the season.
His performance included two centuries and three half-centuries. He maintained a strong average of 73.50 and an impressive strike rate of 145.90.
Despite matching the record, Babar Azam missed the chance to become the sole record holder. His final match dismissal proved costly in terms of personal achievement.
Earlier in the tournament, he delivered several key performances. One of his standout innings came against Islamabad United in the Qualifier.
In that match, Babar Azam scored 103 runs off 59 balls. His innings included 12 fours and four sixes, helping his team reach a strong total.
He also achieved another major milestone during the season. He became only the second player in PSL history to score two centuries in a single edition.
This achievement placed him alongside Usman Khan, who previously reached the same feat.
Throughout the season, Babar Azam remained one of the top performers in the league. His consistency helped Peshawar Zalmi stay competitive.
