Air New Zealand becomes World’s best Airline beating Qatar Airways

Air New Zealand has been named the world’s best airline in 2023, surpassing Qatar Airways, which had held the top spot for the previous two years, according to aviation safety and product rating website Airline Ratings. Air New Zealand was honoured for its operational safety, commitment to sustainability, and friendly employees. This is the airline’s seventh consecutive number one ranking.

Air New Zealand was also lauded for its in-flight innovations, particularly the impending introduction of Skynest economy bunkbeds, the world’s first three-story, lie-flat bunkbeds on a commercial airline.

Despite slipping to second place overall, Qatar Airways was recognized as the airline with the best business class service for the fourth consecutive year and received the award for the best in-flight catering.

Etihad Airways kept its third-place ranking from the previous year and was praised for its commitment to sustainability, particularly through initiatives such as the Greenliner Boeing 787 programme and its Sustainability 50, A350 aircraft. The airline’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve sustainable aviation were highlighted, emphasising the airline’s commitment to minimising its environmental impact.
