45-Year-Old Father Beaten to Death Over Son's Fight in Cricket Match

In Lahore’s Gujjar Pura neighborhood, Nasir Butt, a 45-year-old man, was fatally assaulted by unidentified individuals. The incident occurred following a quarrel between his son and other children during a cricket match. The assailants entered Butt’s residence armed with cricket bats, subjected his son to torture, and ultimately resulted in Butt losing his life.

The police promptly moved Butt’s body to a morgue and initiated an investigation to unravel the details of the murder. Authorities are actively conducting raids to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators.

This tragic event is reminiscent of an incident in May earlier this year in Manghophir, Karachi, where a dispute arising from a children’s fight led to gunfire between two families. The altercation resulted in the death of two individuals and injuries to others. Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) West, Faisal Bashir Memon, revealed that the Brohi family had fired upon their neighbors due to a conflict originating from the children.

Cricket, a beloved sport among the majority of Pakistanis, often evokes strong emotions. However, incidents like these, where lives are lost over minor disagreements on a cricket field, are both lamentable and unnecessary.
