The Excise and Taxation Department has profiled around 130,000 NCP vehicles across Malakand Division.
The profiling is part of a province-wide campaign to document non-custom-paid vehicles. Officials are working to establish a centralized database for these vehicles.
Director Excise and Taxation Malakand Region Fazal Ghafoor shared the details on Tuesday. He said profiling centers have been established at important locations across the division.
The centers were established under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s policy. They are also operating under directives issued by the Excise and Taxation Department.
Ghafoor said thousands of NCP vehicles are currently operating across Malakand Division. The ongoing exercise aims to bring these vehicles into an official record.
According to the official, around 130,000 vehicles have already been profiled. Owners of undocumented vehicles have been advised to complete the process before the deadline.
Ghafoor warned that authorities could take legal action against owners who fail to comply. The warning applies to vehicles that remain undocumented after the deadline.
The department has also contacted owners of vehicle bargaining centers. Car showroom operators across the division have also been approached.
Officials directed these businesses to ensure the profiling of NCP vehicles in their possession. The measure is intended to improve the accuracy of vehicle records.
The department believes the profiling process will provide authorities with better information. A centralized database will make it easier to track vehicles operating across the region.
The record could also support law enforcement agencies during investigations. Authorities may use the database to trace vehicles connected to criminal activities.
This includes vehicles suspected of being involved in theft and other offenses. Better records could help officials identify and track such vehicles more efficiently.
The campaign is part of broader efforts to document NCP vehicles across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities are working to establish a complete record of vehicles in the province.
Vehicle owners who have not completed profiling are being encouraged to use the designated facilities. Officials have stressed the importance of completing the process within the announced timeframe.
The profiling of around 130,000 vehicles represents a major step in the documentation drive. However, thousands of other vehicles may still require registration in the official database.
The department is continuing its work through profiling centers across Malakand Division. Officials are also coordinating with businesses involved in vehicle sales and trading.
The new database is expected to improve monitoring of NCP vehicles. It could also strengthen efforts to identify vehicles linked to illegal activities.
