Water Shortages Worsen in Karachi Ahead of Eid ul Azha

Residents in Karachi are facing worsening water shortages ahead of Eid ul Azha. The disruption has affected multiple areas of the city. The supply was reduced without any prior public notice.

The sudden issue has created difficulties for households preparing for Eid. Many families are now relying on costly private water tankers. Prices have also increased due to higher demand.

The affected areas include Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Liaquatabad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, PIB Colony, Mahmoodabad, and parts of the Old City Area.

Officials and local sources say the water shortages are linked to repair work on a conduit line near Safoora. This maintenance work has disrupted the city’s main water distribution system.

Water supply from Safoora and Nipa hydrants has also been impacted. These hydrants are important sources for bulk water supply in Karachi.

Residents said the situation has created panic in several neighborhoods. Many people were not informed in advance about the disruption.

They added that water shortages often become worse before major religious events. Citizens criticized the lack of planning and communication from authorities.

Families preparing for Eid ul Azha said daily routines have been disturbed. Water is needed for cleaning, cooking, and other household tasks during the festival period.

Despite the widespread issue, no official statement has been issued by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation spokesperson. The public is still waiting for an update on restoration timing.

Local residents also reported a sharp rise in tanker prices. This has increased financial pressure on already affected families.

Many citizens said water shortages in the city are a recurring problem. They believe better planning is needed to avoid repeated crises.

Authorities have not confirmed when the repair work will be completed. The uncertainty continues to add stress for residents in multiple districts.

The situation highlights ongoing infrastructure challenges in Karachi’s water supply system. Citizens are demanding urgent action and a clear response from officials.
