Threads made world record

The text-based Instagram plugin Threads was released on July 5, and the most recent data shows that within the first five days of its activation, 100 million users signed up.

With this platform, Meta obviously hopes to draw Twitter users into its own ecosystem. However, it still lacks a number of crucial features, such as a chronological feed and effective search capabilities. Another major flaw is that it is impossible to remove one’s profile without also erasing all of their Instagram postings.

The data for the report was gathered through a semi-manual approach at Quiver Quantitative. While the number of users signing up to investigate the hype is growing, no algorithm can determine how many users actually leave the platform.

At the moment, influencers, brands, and celebrities predominately make up user feeds, perhaps preventing users from seeing updates from their friends and family.

In a recent development, Mark Zuckerberg’s participation with Threads was discussed in a tweet, and Twitter CEO Elon Musk replied, “Zuck is a cuck.” Putting aside the billionaire’s dubious words, this exchange shows that Twitter is actively watching the development of its rival.

Legal records imply that Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property may be violated by the new platform. A spokesman from Meta has refuted these claims, claiming that none of the people working on the Threads project had ever worked for Twitter.
