Sindh HEC has invited research proposals under the Sindh Research Support Program (SRSP) 2026-27. The program is open to eligible faculty members across Sindh.
The research initiative covers public sector universities and degree-awarding institutes. It aims to support research focused on important provincial and national issues.
Under the latest program, researchers can receive up to Rs. 5 million. The funding will be provided for a period of two years.
The deadline for submitting applications is October 23, 2026. Applicants must complete the required process before the closing date.
The program is designed to encourage research with practical applications. Sindh HEC will also support projects with commercialization potential.
Research linked to the Sustainable Development Goals will receive attention under the program. Collaborative proposals addressing provincial challenges will also be encouraged.
Eligible applicants must be full-time regular faculty members. They should hold qualifications such as PhD, FCPS, MCPS, or FRCS.
Applicants must work at a public sector university or degree-awarding institute in Sindh. Their employment must fall under the BPS or TTS system.
Each researcher can submit only one project as Principal Investigator. A researcher can also hold only one SRSP grant as Principal Investigator.
Faculty members who received the same opportunity during the previous two years cannot apply. This condition applies to the current 2026-27 funding call.
Sindh HEC has identified 10 major research disciplines for the program. These include natural and physical sciences and medical sciences.
Engineering, technology, IT, and computer science are also included. Social sciences and management sciences are covered as well.
Other fields include agriculture, veterinary sciences, urban planning, and environmental sciences. Life sciences are also part of the eligible research areas.
The program also highlights several priority areas for research proposals. These include climate change, food security, and water management.
Sustainable energy and the economy are among the highlighted areas. Public health is another priority under the latest research call.
Artificial intelligence and digital transformation are also included. Emerging technologies and educational reforms are listed among the priority areas.
Projects with strong commercialization potential may receive preference. Proposals supporting the Sustainable Development Goals may also receive priority.
According to Sindh HEC, the SRSP has supported researchers through several funding rounds. The commission approved 57 projects during 2025-26.
A total of Rs. 111.4 million was distributed for those approved projects. The program has funded research projects since its launch in 2020.
Applicants must use the prescribed SRSP application form. They must also provide all supporting documents required under the application process.
The proposal must receive endorsement from the Director ORIC. Approval from the head of the relevant university or institution is also required.
Applicants must combine their application and supporting documents into one PDF file. The complete file must then be submitted through email.
Sindh HEC has directed applicants to send their documents to the designated email address. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applications submitted after the deadline will also be rejected. Researchers should therefore complete all requirements before October 23, 2026.
The Sindh Research Support Program provides researchers with an opportunity to secure funding. It also aims to promote research addressing key issues across the province.
